EMDR Intensives

An EMDR intensive is a way of more rapidly reducing symptoms. Treatment is held in a more brief period, typically 3 or more hours per session, over a few sessions rather than spacing them out between weekly 50 minute sessions. New research show intensives for trauma and stress are highly effective in rapidly reducing symptoms. Intensives are for those who wish to reduce symptoms over a much shorter timespan than typical therapy would allow. Often saving time, money, and reducing suffering more quickly.

EMDR Intensives FAQ

Intensives are offered on a weekly basis with a minimum of 3 hours, up to 6 hours per session.

Why EMDR Intensives?

– They help you get better faster with lasting results.
– While the upfront cost may be higher, treatment is shorter and can save both time and money and less time missed from work.

-Weekly EMDR tends to be less effective due to having to stop and start each week, as well as it can lead one to feeling activated and triggered between sessions due to not having enough time to calm down and regulate after processing trauma. Intensives provide ample time to regulate ones nervous system before ending the session.
– Intensive treatment reduces the amount of time suffering with trauma symptoms and the significant impact on relationships, work and wellbeing unresolved trauma creates.
– Waiting lists in Connecticut and nationally are long for good trauma treatment providers. Intensives have much shorter wait times, as patients complete treatment in the same week. Or, in the case of ongoing intensives, treatment may be completed much faster.

Duration of Treatment:
The number of sessions required to meet your therapeutic goals will vary. This can be discussed with your therapist before beginning.

– Communal traumas

-Loss of a loved one or pet

-Childhood traumas that remain difficult to process.

Together, we outline a path forward that’s realistic, strategic, and tailored to your specific needs.

We Collaborate Openly

You’re part of the process. We keep communication open and decisions shared—no black boxes or surprises.

Format

Intensives are provided via telehealth at this time. EMDR is shown to be just as effective via telehealth as in person sessions. Due to this however, we tend to be more affordable than in person intensives to make up for those who would rather meet in person, but may not be able to afford an in person session. This can be significant savings as in person EMDR intensives tends to cost well over $1000 per session.

Cost

Initial Evaluation: $250
3 hour EMDR Intensive minimum: $750 ($250 for each additional hour up to 6 hours per session )

EMDR Intensives are not covered by insurance.
